RIFT Prime Closes on March 31, 2019

RIFT Prime has been a fantastic adventure through the history of Telara, but it’s time to bring this particular journey to a close. Prime will come offline at the stroke of midnight Pacific time (7AM UTC) on March 31st 2019.

Character and Credit transfers will begin the following week and will be completed by April 7, 2019.

How is it going to work?

All transferred characters will be available on Reclaimer (Trial Only Server) in the US environment, and players will be able to transfer those characters to any other US live shard. We currently do not support character transfers between the US and EU environments.

All accounts that have at least one character who reached level 50 on Prime will be able to claim the following on Live once character/Credit transfers have been completed (can be claimed only once):
  • Level 65 Character Boost Pack
  • 1 million Loyalty

What about the character slot maximum, can the current limit be exceeded?

Current limits cannot be exceeded. Players who have more than the maximum allowed Live characters will need to make room for any characters they wish to move characters off Reclaimer (13 slots for those who purchased the original Wilds Pack).

Any updates about name collisions? Will players be able to keep their names or how will this be resolved?

Characters who have name conflicts will be given the opportunity to choose a new name. Character names with a conflict will automatically have additional characters appended to the end of their current names until a new one is chosen.

What will happen to guilds?

Guilds will not be transferred to Live environments.

What should players do to prepare their individual accounts for the transfer?

Any items you want to transfer over to Live will need to be removed from Prime guild banks.

Thanks for being a part of RIFT Prime! We’re so grateful for all your incredible support!

Defiance 2050 Invades RIFT – Feb. 8 – Feb. 10

Hellbugs have once again invaded Telara! Get in there and save the world, Ascended!

Prevent these Hellbugs from their aggressive colonization of Telara. These suspiciously familiar invaders have jumped from the other worldly city of San Francisco to Telara to try and make it their home. Don’t let them gain a foothold as they spread from one end of Mathosia to the other.

Call-to-Action Event

From Friday, February 8, 2019 beginning at 12:01 AM PST until Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 11:59 PM PST, Hellbugs from Defiance 2050 will invade RIFT! During this limited-time event, Hellbug Rifts will spawn more frequently throughout Telara (on both Live and Prime). Additionally, new zones have been added to their rampage, including Scarwood Reach, Shimmersand, Iron Pine Peak, and Ember Isle.

Participating in this Call to Action event can net you some unique prizes. Completing these Hellbug Rifts have a chance to award you:
  • Minor XP or Token Boosts (15%)
  • Bonus Currency
  • Special Dimension Items
  • Minions (Live only)
  • Wardrobe Skin Items & Bundles
  • Special Mounts (including three not previously released on Live)

Note that on Live, zone events use personal loot Individual Reward Charges. Players get two free rolls per zone per day, after that, they are charged. Prime however, has no gating on rolls.

Glyph Update Issue Fix

Greetings folks,

As you may have noticed, recently we’ve been experiencing some certificate issues with our websites. These same issues also caused some players to have trouble accessing games.

We’ve released fixes for the majority of these issues, but we have an update coming for Glyph that should be the final step to resolving this completely. Unfortunately, players using older versions of Glyph won’t be able to update to this newest version.

If you have trouble updating Glyph you’ll want to delete it from your computer and download the latest version. Find the latest version here.

We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

Thanks very much.

Am I too late to get into this game?

It all depends on what you expect to get out of the game. There hasn't been an expansion in a very long time--there isn't likely to be any more expansions. But the game is not as "dead" as naysayers would have you believe--there are, indeed, people still playing it, and enjoying it; if there weren't, they wouldn't bother with keeping the servers up. Is population low? Compared to FF, WOW, ESO and the like, definitely. Is there no reason to bother? Not at all, depending on why you chose to play.

Even though the addition of new content has ground to a halt, and there is unlikely to be anymore, there is still a ton of content--a ton. Literally hundreds of hours of gameplay for free, hundred of hours of unique content, not the same content on a treadmill.

People are going to bring up the flaws--those flaws exist. No new content, no new raids, which is the source of most of the complaints. Also, class balancing at endgame is whack, that's true. Both of those complaints are at endgame; until the point you get to endgame, however, the game is fine.

Because of the age of the game, most of the playerbase is sitting at max level. They don't run low level content, so unless you join a guild that likes to run low level content, you will wait in a queue forever for a low level dungeon or PvP; it's effectively non-existent. Open world events go a long way to filling that void, however--many players, myself included, spend their playing time shard hopping, going from server to server whenever a zone event pops up. It's spontaneous and varied enough to be fun; it's rare to not find people participating (I should point out that that's the case for 3 of the 4 world maps; it's been my experience that people just don't participate in events on the Brevane/Duskin map, for whatever reason). Is it the same as dungeons? No, I'm not claiming it is. But it is group content, and it is still fun; that's not just my opinion, it's the opinion of others that participate.

If you're an "endgame is all that matters" player, then don't play. If you're a player that likes questing and exploring, then give it a shot--it doesn't cost you anything (oh, and don't bother spending any real money, for Prime or anything else, really, unless you just really want to; you'll get the gear that you need for open world content easily enough through questing). Questing, for the most part, isn't too bad and there's a ton of it. The quests are laid out pretty well, with most of the questing being story driven quests that encourage map exploration, with a minimal amount of boring fetch/escort quests (except for Planetouched Wilds, that zone can get bent). Mechanics are what you would expect from a game a decade old--this isn't action combat, it's old school tab-targeting/global cooldown; if that's not your thing, don't bother with the game. Graphics are still pretty good, for a game a decade old. If you don't enjoy games that don't threaten to melt your brand new video card, then don't play, it's not for you. There are some bugs, bugs that haven't been fixed for years, but I personally haven't come across many "game breaking" bugs; that's just my experience.

The short answer is, how do you play? Are you an intensive, late game, raid centric player? This game isn't for you. Are you a "I want a game to pass the time, that has a lot of content, and I can play for the low low cost of free" player? Then give it a go--you haven't lost anything.

Customer Support Delay Notice

Dear players,

Due to the recent transition to the gamigo structure and the approach of the holiday season, the customer support is currently operating at a slower pace. For the time being, please submit your tickets for new issues on the Trion Worlds support page as the gamigo support page does not have the ticket queues for your game.

While all tickets will be handled in time, we ask for your continued patience as we work through the backlog. Here are some options to explore while you wait for a response to your ticket:
  • Please visit our forums first, as you might find the answer for the issue you are experiencing without needing to send a ticket.
  • Do not send multiple tickets for the same issue, since it creates an unnecessary number of tickets and will further delay the response to your tickets and the other players in the queue.
  • Please be careful with the game and language you select. Sending a ticket to the wrong game/language queue will increase response time as our team will need to send your ticket to the proper queue.
  • If you speak multiple languages, please do not send tickets regarding the same issue to different language queues, as it will also increase response time. One ticket, using the language you are the most comfortable with, is enough.
  • Do not reply to your ticket/bump the ticket if you did not receive an answer from us as it will only send your ticket back to the end of the queue, thus delaying our response.

Please follow these guidelines and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding,

Your gamigo customer support team

RIFT Team Letter – Dev Team Update 11/30

Greetings Ascended,

As we mentioned in our previous Team Letter, the gamigo transition has brought up a number of changes in RIFT’s organization. We are still in the process of establishing a variety of new processes and finalizing structural changes to help us streamline things moving forward.

We hear your concerns regarding the impact this transition is having on the RIFT development team, so we wanted to discuss those with you all.

As many of you are aware, the RIFT development team has been reduced following the recent acquisition. Unfortunately, some familiar faces no longer work with us. For the time being we’re going to move forward with development using the smaller team, but will be open to expanding the team in the future.

With that said, we wanted to reaffirm that we’re still dedicated to continuing development on RIFT. For instance, we are already hard at work to bring you the Fae Yule content for the end of the year!

All we ask of you now, is to remain patient as you already have proven to be thus far.

Once again, we thank you for your incredible support! We couldn’t have asked for a better community of players and we can’t wait to show you what the year 2019 has in store for RIFT!

Sincerely,
The Rift Team

RIFT Team Letter – November 8, 2018

Greetings Ascended,

We appreciate your patience as we take some time to solidify plans moving forward. There are a ton of moving parts involved in the transition from where we were to where we want to go, and it’s going to take us a bit of time to navigate all of the changes required to keep Telara and its denizens happy with the world we’ve called home for so long.

With our smaller team we’re still working out the details on what future content updates will look like. While plans are being made for the future, we’re going to be focusing the team on implementing Quality of Life improvements for RIFT in the short term.

We can’t share specifics yet because there’s still work being done behind the scenes to build a strong foundation for the future. It’s on this foundation that all future updates will be built. This includes examining the health of our shard populations and looking at ways to make sure all of our players have the best possible experience in game.

If you have specific feedback on the kinds of quality of life changes you’d like to see, be sure to share them with us! It would be very helpful to get a sense for what you feel are your main pain points.

We just wanted to take another moment to thank you for your patience as we’ve been working behind the scenes to get things stabilized. More news will be coming down the road so please bear with us a while longer.

-The RIFT Team
